Baseball Caps - Different Types of Caps for Baseball
Baseball caps are soft hats that should fit perfectly on your head. They have a stiff bill or a peak that protrudes from the front. Used for protecting a player's head from the heat during daytime and outdoor games, it also shields their eyes against glare so they can maintain proper vision even under intense sunlight or bright stadium lights for evening games.
Not just protective gear
Although they were used as protective gear, they became a popular and trendy accessory in Western countries. Today, you can find baseball caps in different styles and materials. Traditional ones are made of wool and you can find the team logo on the front. Fabrics are stiffened by inserting a latex rubber and a slightly thicker one is used for the bill. On the other hand, commercially sold caps are usually made of brushed cotton, nylon, or polyester.
Kinds
Baseball caps can be classified into 3 types:
1. Sideline - These are made of cheap fabrics like polyester, nylon, and cotton and they are for general use. You normally see fans wearing them during baseball games from the bleachers or sidelines-and that's how it earned its name.
2. Trucker - These are associated with farmers who wear them for protection against the sun and they are made of plastic mesh foam on the front panels as padding.
3. Athletic - Other sports have also adopted the use of athletic caps. This type is made of latex rubber and traditional wool. Some even have special fittings on the sides for attaching sunglasses.
Buying tips
In buying a baseball cap make sure it fits snugly around your head and consider where you're going to use the baseball cap. Furthermore, consider the size of the bill and where you're going to use the cap.
