According to wikipedia, force is an influence that may cause a body to accelerate. Plain and simple, right? Yeah, if you are a physicist, but what if you are a baseball player? This article is going to break down how force relates to the different bodies involved in the game of baseball - the bat, the ball, and of course, your body. More force to the bat means you can swing faster. More force behind the ball means that you can throw faster, harder, and farther. More force from your body means that you can run, jump, and slide faster as well as apply more force to the ball and through the bat. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the term force?

Ask yourself a question. Do you believe a kill 'em all attitude on the field is beneficial to youth baseball?, or How about this..Youth baseball is a sport that involves a whole team with each child trying their best and learning and improving..and having Fun. Baseball is a game and should be fun. I prefer the second answer. I want my son and teammates to all play, learn and improve..and the opposing team also. There may be a youth on the other team that may very well be in a job with your child someday. Wouldn't it be great if they could work together and compliment each other? The point is, attitude in youth baseball and all sports can help your child in his entire life deal with teamwork, successes, failures, problem solving and opportunities.

To hit the ball well takes a lot of practice. Youth baseball is actually easier than for older players because there is only the basics to learn and develop. This makes it easy for as as coaches to improve our youth baseball teams hitting. We still must do it right. Practice does not always make perfect. The practice must be effective and done correctly or the mind and body will instill the wrong mechanics. Hitting off the tee - has probably been a lost art. It is however making a comeback in certain circles. I have always started batting practice by hitting off the tee. Yes..all ages. Purpose of the tee is to load the bat and get our weight back. First check that the players hands are in the right place.

When I was a little kid, I loved playing baseball. The smell of the freshly cut grass, sunflower seeds, and a day at the ball park were enough to excite me beyond anything else. And while the early morning hours weren"t exactly at my peak activity hours, you could count on me getting up early every Saturday morning to get ready for the weekly game. Simply put, there was something magical about little league games for me. Nowadays, though, it seems as if some of the magic has been taken out of the game. A prime example of what I am talking about happened last night during a Little League World Series game. In the Northwest Regional Championship game, Lake Oswego, Oregon took on Kent, Washington.
Confusion Reigning Supreme in Twins Land
As the Twins organization gears up for a weekend walk down memory lane to the glory days of "87 current Twins fans are a little confused by management strategy, if it in fact exists. The Twins, those masters of picking up talent from the waiver wire, have scooped up a Yankee reject today in infielder Chris Basak. Chris Basak is a 28 year old AAA infielder who is batting. 254 this year. Once again the Twins have added to their farm system a player with proven ability to hit around. 250 or less - at the minor league level. Just a week or two ago the Twins inked a couple of Korean high schoolers that are hitting below. 250 in high school. Inking a contract with the Twins will not magically turn them into offensive gems for any future Twins major league team.
Lack of Baseball Scholarships Causing Interesting Effects
Would you believe there are only 30 African american baseball players in the SEC and ACC. Can you believe that? That is a huge conference, two of the largest in the entire country and there are only 30 count them 30 African american baseball players. Well there has been a dramatic decline of baseball popularity among black community and why is that? Some speculate that with less baseball scholarships than ever in history that less black athletes see it as much less opportunity to acquire a college education. Why wouldn't I play football or basketball or track and field. There is a much better chance of getting football scholarships or basketball scholarships than a baseball scholarship.
Major Changes to College Baseball
There has been some major changes to college baseball that just could have long lasting effects. As college baseball has been seen as a non income producing sport amongst other college sports it is obvious that they have come to realize that they will continue to cut the sports marketability. The other big factors that are affecting the sport is the restrictions that Title IX has put on it. Title IX is the equality regulations on all sports that is handed down by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. So, here are three of the major rule changes that will be facing College Baseball. Athletes will not be able to transfer between schools without sitting out one season.
Baseball Playoff Races Heating Up!
As the dog days of summer wind down and kids head back to school, the baseball season in the world of pro sports begins to make its stretch run. I am sure that we learned just from last season when the St. Louis Cardinals who barely made the playoffs with a just over. 500 record went on to upset both the New York Mets in the NL championship series and the favored Detroit Tigers in the World Series; that nothing is guaranteed. Revenue sharing, an idea that Bud Selig the commissioner insisted be apart of the baseball landscape has been one of the factors that has brought about parity in baseball. With major league teams now more or less on equal footing with the revenue sharing ideal, the era in which the teams that spent the most money often had the best chance of achieving success in the playoffs, (read New York Yankees of the late 1990's thanks to the deep pockets of owner George Steinbrenner) is probably over.
The Yankees Are Alive - Sort of
No one in their right mind can deny the fact that the Yankees are back in the minds of all the American League contenders right now. The Red Sox have kept the Yankees in their rear view mirror since about the 2nd month of the season, but with the Yankees 9-2 victory at Rogers Centre last night coupled with the Red Sox 10-4 loss in Anaheim, the Yankees are now only 5 games back of their division foe. The Yankees also see themselves only a game out of the AL Wild Card behind the Detroit Tigers. Since the All-Star break the Bombers have the best record in the majors going 20-7. And you have to be impressed with the offensive numbers the club has been putting up in the second half of the season.
