The Cleveland Curse

Its baaaaaaack or did it ever leave? That is the question!

I was just starting to believe that the Cleveland Curse was about to be lifted and then.... game five of the Cavs/Nets series took place. Its convinced me The Curse is still lingering and may never go away.

When the Cavs selected LeBron as their number one pick in the draft four years ago I thought they were crazy to pay that much for a high school player. But I had to see if all the hype was true so I started watching him play. Well the Cavs began winning and Cleveland actually had their super star they've been waiting for, not just a star player but a super star in King James, a player that is smashing records left and right, a player that is known globally.

Finally this year all the pieces seemed to fit. The Cavs were heading for their second straight play off berth and things were looking up. That's when I began to really take notice and thought could it be...nahhh.... could it really be.... The Curse was about to end? For once it was the other team not Cleveland losing two of its star players with injuries just before the play offs, for once it was the other team not Cleveland losing the last game of the year that dropped them down in the play off standings, for once it was the other teams not Cleveland's star player having leg cramps and having to sit in the fourth quarter with the game on the line and for once it was the other teams player not Cleveland's who dribbled the ball of his leg with seconds to go in the game. Could it be, was this the beginning of Thee End of The Curse?

It appeared the Cavs would be the ones to crush the dreaded Curse and break the long drought of an elusive Championship that hasn't been seen in Cleveland since 1964. But then came game five with the New Jersey Nets....

NO NO NO, it can't be! The CURSE has reared its ugly head again! With under a minute to go in the game and Cleveland still within striking distance what happens? Its The Curse.... I'm telling you its THE CURSE.... LeBron dives for the ball going out of bounds, tumbles, rolls, falls, gets hurt, limps to the locker room - GAME OVER - the Cavaliers lose.

OK so it was only game five and Cleveland still leads three games to two BUT I CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE!!! I can't and won't do this to myself again. I had enough of the pain and disappointment, I refuse to watch the rest of the series. I'm hiding, avoiding all radios, TVs, newspapers, people, blimps, anything that may even hint of the score of the remaining game or games. Just wake me when its over, I can't take anymore. If they win maybe, just maybe The Curse is on its way out, if they lose.... don't wake me, just let me be.
