The Need To Do Well
Everyone knows that winning is better than losing, especially in the NBA. Players alike and coaches and management, go out of their way in order to make plans for improvement. Everyone wants to do well because with winning, comes glory and wealth. Winning is something that cannot be bought but must be earned. However, ever since these people have taken interest in the NBA, they have always faced the need to do well in the eyes of others.
When these players, now in the NBA start out, they were winners because they played against weaker competition and went to the best basketball programs. However, translating this is much harder especially when there is endless competition. People find that losing is something that is never good, but this is not the case. Sometimes losing is something that happens for a reason and can prompt even the most dormant to do better. Losing is a horrible feeling because some think it shows self worth, which it does not. Knowing that you can do what you can is what self worth really is. However, losing even with confidence does little for these players too.
Now in the NBA, these players are either on, weak, average or good teams. The makeup of why this is is based on a large group of variables and luck. However, why then, do NBA superstars always want to find NBA titles? Why do people always compare the amount of titles won? The reason for this is because winning correlates with success. Being good is nothing when you cannot do it in a good manner. Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett and more, have requested for trades because they have faced this pressure. They need to win to cement the fact that they are great ball players, not players that are able to fill up stat sheets. When we look around, only one team can win it every year. This year, the Spurs won and were not even considered to be the best team in the West. This relates to everything in life. People respect and look at winners, the first place people, not the runner ups. This is why winning has become a style that people want to copy. Just like the newest fashion.
Remember that winning is great but improvement is always needed. Even good teams need to make improvements because other teams are constantly getting better through various actions. Losing is hard to take because it can damper even the best hopes. However, losing will cause motivation which is needed for an all around good team.
