Lebron Hybrid
When Lebron James first came into the league at 18 years of age, a lot was expected of him. Some people said that he was going to be a future superstar because of the talent he has shown in high school. There was no question as to whether or not he should be the number one overall pick, something he could have robbed Yao a year earlier. At 6"8 and at least 240 pounds, Lebron has the strength and the size to be a great inside player but can also deliver outside when needed. He has great court vision and can find the open man most of the time. Heading into the draft, some people even felt that Lebron"s greatest strength came from his ability to pass. They have compared him to Magic Johnson because he was one of the best passers of all time. However, Lebron grew up following Michael Jordan, a guard who is able to score at will.
This brings us to the big question, who is Lebron more like? First of, Lebron averages at least 6 assists a year, which is very high for a player of his size and position. Magic played guard but was 6"10, a huge size for a guard even to the standards of today. Lebron is also a pass first type player who tries to get his teammates involved because of the defense that collapses on him whenever he has the ball. However, Lebron is also like Jordan because of his ability to score at will at times from all areas of the court. Lebron can take the contact when driving and still finish. Lebron puts up a lot of points but can improve this if he wanted to. He cannot be both Michael and Magic at the same time because it disrupts his game. Lebron needs to be Lebron and pick one style that he will play like. This way, he will do one thing better and not have to worry about doing two things at once. A guard"s job is to pass and to distribute, not Lebron"s. Lebron must learn to attack and be like Jordan because a player of his position is not a guard who generally passes. Lebron will gain more credit for being a scorer as well. It is now up to Lebron to decide how he plays next year.
