The Hottest Trend in Summer Basketball Camps

Last summer I begin to hear a buzz about a new concept in the summer basketball camp scene. The buzz got louder and louder this summer as this hot, new trend has begun to emerge around the country. Check the article to see for yourself just what this popular trend is all about. The traditional summer basketball camp is firmly entrenched in every small or big town in America. Parents pay to have their son or daughter be involved in basketball camp. Some do it to substitute for babysitting while others truly expect improvement from their investment. The price being charged for basketball camps has been on the increase each year and some college sponsored camps charge obscene prices.

Garnett to Boston - A Good Thing

All I've heard all day from everyone of my close friends and Celtics fans, is how pissed they are about the Celtics trading for Kevin Garnett. Are you serious? The arguments I've heard are "It's way too much", "There goes our potential", "So much for the youth movement", the list goes on and on. To these people I say: Get over It! Kevin Garnett is not the second coming of Christ, but he's a pretty damn good basketball player. I used to love watching the Celtics a few years ago when they had Antoine Walker, Pierce, Kenny Anderson, and the rest of the supporting cast that saw them go to the Eastern Conference finals, and pull the greatest single game upset in NBA history over the Nets in that series.

Why The Youth Movement Doesn t Work

With the Kevin Garnett trade now just a matter of numbers, many people have been complaining about the Youth Movement idea that Danny Ainge has been pitching for the last 3 years, while single handedly gutting a team who was a threat in the Eastern Conference. Well I'm going to explain why the Youth Movement doesn't work. If you look at the team the Celtics assembled in the previous three years, they had a bunch of kids and a lot of potential. Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Rajon Rando, great young stars. All of them making meager dollars compared to the Kevin Garnett's and the Tracy McGrady's of the league. And yes most of these players will probably develop into bonafide stars in the NBA, but in 2-3 years when that happens, they will all be up for new contracts, and if they are stars they will demand a star contract.

Garnett To Boston

To all Knicks fans out there the day has come where Isaiah Thomas"s off-season moves have been over shadowed by dare I say it, Danny Ainge. The words just coming out of my mouth make me shiver in disgust. Somehow, in one year the Celtics went from joke of the league to title contender or dare I say... the favorites in the East. I remember when the Celtics not getting the number one pick was a tragedy for Boston. Now it might be considered the best thing that could have happened to their franchise. It forced Danny Ainge to go out and explore the market because the draft was no longer their savior. It forced Ainge to trade young unproven talent for players that are seasoned veterans, hungry for the ring, with arguably each of their best seasons in the prior year.

Wheelchair Sports - Why Not Wheelchair Basketball?

Too few people with disabilities get involved with sporting activities. Many despair at their apparent disadvantage and end up overlooking the physical therapy and even psychological advantages offered by playing sports. Wheelchair basketball is one option available to those with a disability, helping with their self confidence and providing opportunities to socialize with others. One little know fact is that wheelchair basketball is played at an international level of competition. After the second world war, many US servicemen were confined to a wheelchair, and wheelchair basketball was born. In 1946, these veterans played their first game, eventually growing to become one of the most popular sports in the world.

Artest To The Knicks - Disaster Or Match Made In Heaven

If style, grace, and a winning smile can"t take you where you want to go then I guess you haven"t been following the Isiah Thomas game plan. Isiah, equipped with such grace on the court, off the court can be depicted as somewhat of a "thug, " a ruthless businessman who never deters from his goal. After his Hall of Fame career as a player Isiah decided to dabble on the other side of the court and so far he"s been doing a good job... from a financial standpoint anyway. Although he is not the best GM in the league and has the Knicks salary almost double the second highest payroll of any other team, he does know talent. And if he says Artest is a player that is going to take the Knicks to the next level, honestly I"d like to believe him.

Kevin Garnett Dunks or How to Increase Vertical Jump

Did you know NBA superstar Kevin Garnett had more dunks (60) last year than highflyers like Kobe Bryant (59) and Desmond Mason (56)? Of course, the 31-year old power forward is 6"11"", but he also has a 36-inch vertical. So, dunking a basketball is a no-brainer for KG. But what can you do to improve your vertical jump? There are a lot of exercises everybody knows about - like jump rope, calf raises, squats aso. But there are some very effective exercises only few people know about: Glute Bridges: This exercise trains the glutes (gluteal muscles; your butt) and the hamstrings which play a big role in vertical leap. Starting Position: lay on your back, knees bent, feet shoulder width apart.
