Youth Basketball Basics For Coaches Players

Basically, basketball coaches and players will have to sift through a myriad of websites to find answers for their particular sets of questions. The problem with many of the sites that I have investigated is that they mostly market the same basketball videos and DVDs. While they may have some good content to their sites, there is also a lot of redundancy making a lot for searchers to wade through. When I entered the basketball coaching market, I wanted a niche that wasn"t being addressed in the same way, over and over. The segment that needs the most help is the new and lesser experienced youth basketball coaches and players. In teaching post play, unless a team"s strategy is to use a strong and fairly stationary low post, I would have the post in continuous movement. I do this in order to confound the defender and to constantly attempt to open up passing angles. My "L", "X" & "Z" patterns make it nearly impossible to hold a correct defensive position all the time. This creates an advantage for a smaller post player. The "X" move starts from the low box away from the ball to the elbow on theball side. Then down to low post ball side and back up to the elbow away from the ball. At each corner, the post tries to establish a position to receive a pass. Then, if not able to receive a pass, moves on.

Indirectly, players become the winner in this process due to the enhanced coaching skills, awareness, and passion that come from their coaches. In today"s game, it appears as if people do not care enough about their free throw shooting. It is a basic shot and something that can be learned and perfected. This of course requires a lot of practice and technique learning. If you learn the right technique, it can help your free throw percentage. Some players have a very good arch on the shot and it improves the chance of it going in. Some players like Shaq have a horrible shot arch and do not use full extension of the arms. Players that are free throw experts are calm and collective and are used to making shots when needed. When you look at players who are good at free throw shooting, they are usually good jump shot shooters.
