However, Yao is a bit slow and is not very aggressive. Yao Ming was upstaged by Amare Stoudemire, center for the Suns, when he was second place in the Rookie of the Year voting. Amare had a big impact game, scoring 38 points and was called a great inside player.
The Greatest NBA Draft Ever?
When we look back on the class of 2003, we see a lot of players who have made it big in the NBA. These names roll of the tip of every fan"s mouth, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Josh Howard, Kirk Hinrich and Barbosa. Some of these players have really exceeded the hype and some has proved doubters wrong. This draft is good because there are several Hall of Fame players in the making and several more all-star caliber players. Furthermore, there are several other players that can be solid NBA players in the future. When we look at the year of Yao Ming and Amare Stoudemire, we see two dominant big men, but we do not see much else.

Every year, there are at least 80 people who put their names in for the NBA draft. This draft is held every year and is used for the sole purpose of improving teams, and to introduce younger, better players. This makes sense because after a certain amount of years, players retire and get old and need to be replaced. The draft is at the moment 60 slots where teams can have multiple tries depending on trades and order of rank and the lottery. The lottery is held before the draft and determines which teams get the first overall picks. This is based on the need of the team, how many games they lost in the previous year and the lottery. Teams occasionally get lucky and get a top pick when they didn"t really need it as much.
Outcome of the 2007 NBA Draft
This has been one of the most talked about drafts in a while, at least since the 2003 draft with Lebron James and his class. Greg Oden, a 7 foot center from Ohio State and Kevin Durant, a 6-10 forward for Texas lead the group of NBA hopefuls this year. There has been a lot of discussion lately about whether or not the Portland Trailblazers, the team with the first pick, will select Oden. They have flirted with the idea of picking the highly talented Durant who comes in with a array of skills. Durant can play multiple positions and has a knack for getting to the hoop and for scoring from the outside. However, swingmen players like him are not as important as a center who, usually has more control of the game.
