Test Cricket - Basic Facts


Today, Cricket is one of the world"s most famous sports and has millions of fans all over the world. For people who are crazy about this game, test cricket has its own charm and it has also been considered to be extremely trendy.

Test cricket is nothing but the long-established type of cricket.

In the beginning, only test matches used to be played. The trend of one-day matches started at a much later stage. One-day matches do create excitement but the fact is that till date, most of the players as well as the spectators love to play and watch test matches and test cricket.

No matter how old test cricket becomes, it will never loose its charm. The evidence comes from the fact that till date all those players who are busy playing one-day cricket at the international level are anytime eager to be ready for the test matches.

As per the norms, test cricket is played for a period of five days. No doubt, it becomes extremely boring for those who do not like this game.

Unlike one-day cricket, test-cricket offers an equal opportunity to both the teams to showcase their talents and confirm their abilities over a period of five days.

The team that wins the toss gets the power to decide whether his team should go with the cricket bats first or bowl first in the game. There are many factors to be taken into account by the captain of the team to determine if his team would bat or bowl first.

In the present scenario, the way in which test matches are being played is quite different from the way in which it was played before. Teams have become much more competitive than they were before and this has led to some decisions which have made results more of a possibility.
