Skydiving - The Great Airborne Skydiving Adventure!

When I was 18, my dad was finishing up his hours to get his private pilots license. At the time, being 18 and feeling like nothing could ever happen to me, I felt I would have a lot of fun if I took up the sport of skydiving, a real adrenaline rush. Back then the thought of jumping out of a plane at anywhere from 10, 000-18, 000 feet, and flying through the air at 120-180 mph, seemed like a perfectly reasonable activity. Keep in mind, I was only 18, and I have no doubt that my parents had no intention of allowing me to do that, they just had not told me no yet. My dad died of a heart attack, not related to flying, the next year and I just never got around to taking up skydiving after that.

Do You Know What Paintball Is?

The sport was created recently; paintball began in United States of America in 1981 in a farm that was used to mark the cows and trees. This guns or markers used carbon dioxide as power resource. The little bullets, call paintballs, are made of a gelatin, filled with paint were later changed to a special paint for cloth and easy to see. The bullets were given a spherical shape to ensure a perfect shot. The inventors of this wonderful sport were Charles Gaines, Bob Guernsey, and Hayes Noel. Paintball, in the last ten years, has become one of the most popular sports in the United States, because of the concept and the different scenarios, markers, and accessories.

Paintball, You Mean There is More To It?

It has come to our attention that there are a lot of people out there that don't really know that there are different types of paintball. Our mission is to help those poor lost souls and open their eyes to what awaits them in the world of paintball. Although there are many variations of the game of paintball we don't want to overwhelm you so we will stick to the main three. Now these may arguably be the main three but for the sake of this article we will say that they are the main three variations of paintball and they are Woodsball, Speedball, and Scenario Paintball. Woodsball is oldschool paintball at its heart. Paintball started off for the most part being played in wooded areas which lent themselves to the "capture the flag" and "elimination" type paintball games to be played.

Paintball, Not Just a Bunch Of Hot Air!

My how the times change, in my day we were lucky enough to get our hands on some paintballs, let alone have something to shoot them out of or have a propellant of some sort to shoot them with. As a kid I was more than happy to be able to shoot paintballs out of my wrist rocket, sure it was painstakingly slow to load rounds and about half of the balls shot broke but it was fun nonetheless. Well now a days there are three main propellants out there that allow you to shoot much much faster and with much fewer ball breaks. The two most used paintball propellants that are used in the sport today are CO2, Propane and Compressed Air Also Referred to as Nitro or High Pressure Air.

Wakeboard Rope Basics

You cant use any old towrope when wakeboarding. Think twice before using a water ski rope for our wakeboarding. The basics of wakeboard ropes are covered here. Rope Stretch Non stretch ropes and needed when wakeboarding. Ropes that stretch recoil when the wakeboarder is airbourne, lessening the height that you reach. Stiffer ropes allow more control. How does this differ from the requirements of waterskiing? Ropes designed for waterskiing provide plenty of stretch, which helps pull you back and forth around the course and is alot more forgiving. Towrope Length Your performance behind the boat has alot to do with the length of the rope you choose. A good choice of length for the beginner wakeboarder to start with is around 45-50 feet.

Wakeboarding Defined

Wakeboarding is a sport where one rides on the surface of the water in the wake generated from a boat with a single outboard motor. It originated from a mixture of surfing, water skiing and snow boarding. Its common thought that wakeboarding is copied from surfing but the two actually have different characteristics. Similar to water skiing, the wakeboarder is towed behind a boat, usually at slower speeds (around 16 - 23mph). Beginner wakeboarders start at slow speeds around 17mph and with shorter ropes (40 - 45ft lonfon). As the rider becomes more experienced, they are towed at greater speeds (up to 22.5 - 24 mph). Changes in speed drastically affects the shape of the wake in which you ride, typically the faster the speed the longer the rope that is used (60ft or longer).
