You'll be amazed at how simple yet effective the are. Fishing with live worms is my favorite method of fishing, but to do it properly you need to know a few things. Fishing with worms is kind of like cooking a steak. You can just take out pan, heat it up, and throw a steak into that pan, cook it, and be done with it. Or you can do a few simple things that will make that steak 100% better. Such as seasoning the steak and cooking it over an open flame. Both methods will get you a cooked steak, it's just that one is much more efficient and better tasting. Worm fishing is the same way. The method that you've always used might catch you a few fish, but these simple tips and techniques will make you even more successful.

• Present Live Worms Naturally - When using a live worm as bait, it needs to look as much like it would appear in nature as is possible. If you "thread" a live worm onto a size 4 hook, does it look natural? Does that worm, when you look at it, look like anything that would appear in nature? Of course not. The only way that I've ever found to present live worms naturally is through the use of a set of gang hooks. Gang hooks allow you to present alive worm in an outstretched and natural manner, the way God intended. Gang hooks can be purchased pre-tied and ready to fish or tied yourself, it makes little difference. What's important ids that you begin employing gang hooks any time you use live worms while fishing.
• Carry Live Worms Efficiently - Most anglers carry their live worms with them while fishing by simply putting the container that the worms were purchased in into their pocket and calling it good. This isn't at all efficient and results in a ton of wasted time. A bait bag should be employed so that your live worms are always at your fingertips ready to be used. With the help of a bait bag, anglers don't have to fumble around with those bulky worm containers. Simply buy your live worms just as you normally would. Then, when you get to your fishing area, simply remove the worms from the container they were purchased in (not the dirt, just the worms), and place them into the bait bag. Now you always know where your worms are and have easy access to them. If you fish with live worms and move around at all while fishing, a bait bag should be a part of your fishing repertoire.
• Always Pay Attention To Your Hands - When fishing with live worms be aware of any scents that may be on your hands, because it will transfer to the bait. Gasoline and smoking are the most common scents that cause anglers problems. A quick and easy remedy to this is to always rub your hands in a handful of grass or dirt before fishing. This will help o eliminate any un natural odors on your hands, that might transfer to your bait (in this case worms).

These simple tips and techniques will make you a much more effective live worm angler. Or, if you want to, you can pull out that pan and continue to cook your steak in the same manner that you always have. The choice is yours. Never forget what Steven Wright said of us anglers, "There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore, looking like an idiot." How true that is and I just want to help you avoid the 'looking like an idiot' part of that quote.
