An ill prepared person will either not catch much fishes or will lose their catch making it a fruitless trip. Getting yourself prepared for the trout fishing experience : First, you need to know more about the type of fish you are trying to catch and where they live. If you have never been trout fishing before, you will want to familiarize yourself with these fish. Getting books or fishing magazine would certainly be one of the first steps to take. You can also do some research on the internet, go to fishing forum and learn a tip or two from the more experienced fishermen.

Is Fly Fishing An Art?

I've been an avid angler for more than twenty years, and for most of that time my favorite type of fishing has been wading in the current of a river or stream, attempting to catch the beautiful trout. Because of the fact that my passion is fishing for trout, I constantly get asked the question of whether or not I fly fish. This problem became even more prevalent when I moved to the mountains of Montana 6 years ago. In the west, every time you utter the words "I love to fish", almost immediately someone pipes up with, "Yea, I like to fly fish too." In my opinion this is all because of the marketing fly fishing has received over the past couple of decades making it out to be some sort of art form.

New Summer Carp Baits - Hot Weather Opportunities and Risks

How can you really get the best carp fishing results when things really hot up? How many anglers have not yet savored the joy of summer carp fishing and all the great opportunities and experiences of great catches, that summer brings? Why miss out on the action! Surface fishing is possibly your favorite method of all. Actually watching the movements of the fish you are about to hook is so exciting! The subject of surface bait silhouettes, shading and colors are interesting, as is the ability of your bait to move in as natural a way as possible and obscuring of the hook too. Plastic baits are available flavored now and some can be made to glow in the dark too.

Light Line Trout Fishing

In my opinion, trout fishing should only be attempted while using light line and light gear. I've seen many anglers out on the water that employ rods, reels, and line that's entirely too heavy for trout fishing. Haven't you ever seen leftover fishing line along your favorite river, stream, or lake that's heavy enough to be used for fishing for small sharks? This heavy line is completely unnecessary, especially when fishing for our friends "the trout". I personally don't use any line heavier than 4 pound test for trout fishing, and think that anything over 6 pound test being spooled on your reel is overkill. Using light line is not only more productive, it's also much more humane.

Essential Trout Fishing Techniques

As an avid trout angler, I've learned a few techniques over the years that I now view as essential for fishing for trout. In this article, I'm going to lay these simple, yet incredibly effective techniques out for you in the best way I know how, in the hopes that they might help you catch some more trout. I believe that learning new techniques and practice are essential for being an effective trout angler. By effective I mean, being able to go out and catch trout on almost any given day. Anyone can "thread" a worm onto o hook and catch a trout every once in a while. What I'm referring to is catching trout consistently, and not only that, but catching large trout consistently as well.

Fly Fishing for Sharks

In Southern California there is a group of anglers that frequently goes looking for trouble. Not with other anglers you understand but trouble for themselves! It is not that they maybe had too much beer or have some other social problem but they do have an addiction, and that is what puts them in harms way. They also have great respect for their quarry, an apex predator whose reputation of long fast runs and high cart-wheeling jumps keeps them coming back for more. One word is all it takes to get these adrenaline junkies fired up - MAKO! The Mako Shark, Isurus oxyrinchus, is found globally in warm or temperate seas. Known as one of the fastest sharks in the ocean, this pelagic predator can reach speeds of up to 22mph.

Why The Bass Fishing Season Has Never Been Better

Studies indicate that the bass fishing this year is expected to be very hot, especially in the traditional hotspots for bass fishing. This is expected to be particularly good in the bass fishing regions of Pennsylvania. The regional supervisor of the Fish and Boat Commission said that fishermen can expect a large population of smallmouth and largemouth in the fishing rivers, and that bass are abundant in the main braches of most rivers. Normally, the fish population remains pretty steady, especially the bass population, he said, but now the populations are up and ripe for an excellent bass fishing season. As far as what is expected to work best this year for bass lures, some strategic tips were offered, although he stated that bass fishermen "pretty much know what they are doing, and you can rarely give them advice", he said with a smile.

How Do Retractors Relate To Fishing?

Retractors and fishing. Many anglers have never heard of a little piece of equipment known as a retractor, but it's something that makes every fishing trip much better. A retractor is a small wheel that attaches to your belt, shirt, or fishing vest with a clip on it and this clip holds important fishing gear. Then that gear simply hangs from your body until it's needed. Then, when it's needed the piece of equipment is grabbed, pulled to where it's needed, used, and released. When the equipment is released, the retractor zips it right back up. It's great! The single most popular piece of equipment to add to a retractor, is a pair of nail clippers. With easy access to a pair of nail clippers, they actually get used to snip fishing line, rather than biting the line.
