It's widely accepted that anglers should wear polarized glasses while fishing, but do you know why? In this article I'll try to explain why polarized glasses are needed (without getting overly technical) and also how all polarized glasses aren't created equal. For many years I labored under the delusion that polarized sunglasses were a crock, and not only were they a crock but people who spent more than $25 on them were idiots. Boy was I misguided. Polarized glasses help to reduce the glare created by the sun when it hits the water. With this glare eliminated, it enables you to be able to see into the water. This is a huge advantage to any angler who fishes shallow water in lakes or likes to fish in the flowing water of rivers and streams.
Fishing, Live Worms, And The Worm Ball
It seems to me that many anglers who fish with live worms still do it in exactly the same way that they did when they were kids. That is, tying on a single hook (many times a snelled hook), clipping on a red and white bobber, maybe adding a split shot sinker for a little weight, throwing it into the water, and calling it fishing. Is this because many anglers just don't know any better? BAKED BASS Split the fish and stuff with seasoned mashed potatoes. Put a little boiling water and a tablespoonful of butter into the baking-pan, and baste frequently while cooking. BAKED BASS WITH WHITE WINE Put a bass into a baking-dish with salt, pepper and mushroom liquor to season, and enough white wine to moisten. Cover with buttered paper and bake for fifteen minutes. Melt two tablespoonfuls of butter, add three tablespoonfuls of flour, and cook thoroughly. Add two cupfuls of white stock and cook until thick, stirring constantly. Take from the fire and add the yolks of three eggs beaten with a little cold water, and the juice of half a lemon. Add a tablespoonful of butter and the juice in the baking-pan.

It happens every year, in almost every lake in the Kamloops area but the trick is to time it just right. This year, so far, our timing has been great. Long leaders on dry lines season has begun and the perfect hatch of chironomids has been fished. It was late in May, just after the Victoria Day weekend in Kamloops area and the weather had been cool and windy but this day the winds were down and the temperature was approaching 20C.
