Classic Bamboo Fishing Rods - How to Identify Authenticity
If you are a die hard fishing enthusiast, chances are that you have heard of the Bamboo Fishing rods. These distinctive rods are more like antiques today, with most of them having been used in the days before the advent of the modern fishing rods. Recently, there has been an increasing trend to collect and restore these classic rods. This particular hobby is on the rise among lovers of the fishing sport and those interested in fishing equipment and accessories. Fishing gear shows normally have lovingly restored traditional fishing rods being sold to the tune of $600 and even more. So, you can imagine the antique value of these rods! The old bamboo rod belonging to your grandfather is therefore not junk anymore.
Why Do I Need Another Fishing Rod?
Many anglers think that they can get by with only one fishing rod. While this may be true if you fish for the same species of fish in the same conditions all the time, who among us does that? If you're anything like me, you like to fish in rivers, lakes, and streams, while maybe even mixing in a touch of saltwater fishing. Fishing in different bodies of water, calls for different fishing rods. And what about different species of fish. The same rod shouldn't be used for trout fishing on one trip and the trolling for walleye on another. You need to have separate rods for separate situations. For example, my favorite type of angling is trout fishing in a certain river in Montana.
Big Carp Baits - Making Opportunities
Big carp can be very difficult to catch, but using bait in more creative ways can really make more opportunities for great catches! Many anglers have not heard about the feeding "triangle" effect. This is where the effect of feeding a swim with chum regularly can influence the behaviour of fish in your favour. The act of "pre-baiting" for carp and indeed catfish and other species is well known as a proven successful fishing edge. Where allowed, pre-baiting a swim or swims can create fish feeding activity hotspots and the eventual ideal aim is to achieve a "feeding frenzy". For example, the feeding of a swim as you are fishing can change the size and numbers of fish you catch over time.
Smallmouth Bass Fishing Secrets
It is widely accepted that pound for pound smallmouth bass are the hardest fighting fish that there is, swimming in freshwater. If you've had the pleasure of catching a 2-3 pound smallmouth, you will undoubtedly agree. In this article I'm going to reveal a few secrets for fishing for Smallmouth Bass in the flowing water of rivers and streams. To me, fishing in rivers and streams is the only way to fish, and when there are smallmouth bass present in the river or stream that I'm fishing, these secrets have always been successful. If you think catching a 2-3 pound Smallmouth is fun (which it is) you need to try catching that same fish when there is current to deal with.
Choosing a Fishing Knife for Your Summer Fishing Adventures
An avid fisherman is typically able to tell you the contents of his tackle box: fishing hooks, line in various weights, shiny and dull fishing lures, colorful bobbers, an extra reel, needle nose pliers, a flashlight, maybe some fishing scissors and a fishing knife. Each of these tackle box items is an important element in both successful and not so successful fishing trips to the river. Having the right kind of gear, the kind that will withstand a variety of elements, is key. The following are some tips on what to look for when purchasing a durable fishing or fillet knife to all those would-be and experienced anglers out there. When choosing a fishing knife, the size of the fish being lured needs to be considered.
Light Line Worm Fishing
Is any form of fishing more enjoyable than fishing with light line? Although the term 'light line' can mean many different things, for the purposes of this article, I'm mainly referring to light line fishing for freshwater game fish in the rivers and streams of the United States of America. For those of you who shark fish, light line can mean 100 pound test, so I had to narrow it down a little bit. For the purposes of this article, I'm referring to 2-6 pound test, and fishing in the areas mentioned above. Although many species can be caught in our river and streams, I've had the most success fishing for 3 species in the manner described in this article, trout, smallmouth bass, and walleye.
You Don t Carry That Styrofoam Container With You While Fishing, Do You?
For many years I would buy live worms at the store, then stuff the worm container into my fishing vest or tackle box and go fishing. This was fine I suppose, but it was a pain in the butt. I never knew exactly where my worms were, and would have to spend time looking for them, rather than fishing. The container would invariably end up getting smashed as well, and whatever worms that didn't get used, would be wasted. Then one day I went fishing with a friend of mine who's father, who incidentally became my fishing mentor, introduced me to an incredible idea. That idea was a bait bag. It was a little bag that hung off of his fishing vest and held his live worms.
Ultra Light Fishing For Trout
If you fish for trout and don't employ ultra light fishing gear and bait, you should. There's really no other way to put it. Employing ultra light gear involves a few things that I'll discuss in this article. The first and most important aspect, in my opinion, is the size of your fishing line. In my opinion, in order to truly be ultra light fishing for trout, four pound test needs to be used. In other words, an ultra light rod and reel, spooled with 4 pound test is absolutely perfect for trout fishing. If you happen to be thinking that four pound test line is too light, keep in mind that I personally land trout over 20 inches and in the 3-5 pound class consistently all while using four pound test and ultralight gear.
Being An Efficient Angler
One of the biggest mistakes that I see anglers make is the fact that they aren't very efficient. What do I mean by this? Simple. As anglers, the more time that we can spend with our lines in the water the better. You can't catch any fish without having your line in the water, so the more time that can be spent with our lines in the water the better our chances of hooking up. There are two very simple, yet amazingly effective, ways to become a more efficient angler, that you may not have been aware of? I'm going to introduce you to those two ways in this article. A Bait Bag - If you use live worms for fishing, and you tend to move around a lot while fishing, a bait bag needs to be employed.
10 Types Of Fishing Lures That Can Help You Catch The Big One
When it comes to fishing lures, you want to be sure you have the right one for the job but with so many to choose from how do you pick the best one? The waters you are fishing, the time of year and the weather all have an impact on what type of lure will look tasty to the species of fish you were trying to catch. There are a variety of different lures, all in different shapes sizes and colors and most avid anglers have quite a selection in their tackle box. Here are a few types you might want to include in your list of fishing gear. Surface Lures These are lures that you retrieve along the surface of the water and are fun to use since the fish explodes up out of the water in order to take in the lure.
