Coveted Striped Bass Fishing Techniques

Striped bass fishing can be a competitive sport, and while your techniques for catching these monstrous fish need to be perfected, you should never forgo fishing etiquette to get your trophy fish. So, amid several other boats on a very warm summer's day where everyone is shooting for the same results, keep in mind your fishing etiquette and practice your striped bass fishing in a considerate manner. Striped bass fishing is best in mid summer during warm weather, especially in the northeast, since this is the only time of year when the lakes get warm enough for the general population to sit up and take notice. Striper are out in large numbers, and you can find some real bubbas to take home as well, with lots of trophy sized fish coming out of the woodwork.

Custom Designed Ice Fishing House

When you're out on an ice fishing trip, there are times when you have to endure long waits in between the fish biting. This also happens when you are trying out the various baits and lures that you have with you, to see which is the most responsive. When you're out in the cold weather, even a five minute wait can seem like an hour. However this can all change when you're snugly comfortable and warm in your very own fishing house. An ice fishing house unlike a shanty or a shelter is designed to be a permanent structure, for at least one season. An ice house is often built on trailer frames and mounted directly to the frame. This allows anglers to easily hook the trailer hitch to their trucks and to drive the ice house straight onto the ice to their chosen fishing locations.

The Art Of Dry Flies

A fisherman that fly fishes knows the most fun comes from dry fly fishing. In this article I hope to enlighten all of you with some favourite techniques. Watching the fly drift on the water, the flash of the trout grabbing it and then the bend in your fly rod. This is exactly what all fly fishermen hope to experience. Just to get this experience most fly fishermen will go to extreme measures to make this happen. Sure most guys don"t mind taking a big old rainbow or brown on a nymph but catching that brookie on a dry fly is usually always preferred. When I first get to the stream I am going to fish I put on a nymph. The reason for this is that I can be catching fish while I am paying attention to what"s going on, on the top.

The Tradition Of Fly Fishing

There are many activities that come to society honestly - passed down from generation to generation through families who have created their own traditions surrounding such customs. Fly fishing - practiced as both a method for catching food and as a hobby - has been traced back to as far as the 2nd century. But the more modern method of fly fishing is generally attributed to the fishing that takes place in Northern England and Scotland and is used to catch such fish as redfish, bass, pike, carp, and striped bass. Fly fishing is called such because of the use of artificial flies as bait. The artificial flies - typically made from a variety of synthetic material - are attached to the end of the fly rod.

The Best Fishing Destinations - Oh Canada

I love the Canadian outdoors. The many provinces of Canada, each offering diverse and unbelievable travel experiences will reward the most discerning angler. Canada today is to fishing what Africa was in the early 1900"s to the big game safari. Expansive areas of untouched bodies of water with massive amounts of fish species ready for the trying. It is said that a true angler gets enjoyment from the "waiting for a bite" as much as the challenge of landing the prey. I believe this to be true and even can take it a step further. The real angler loves the experience of the visit to the outdoors more than the achievement of capturing a fish. Well, if this is true, try out Canadian Provinces for a guided fishing trip.

Is Deep Sea Fishing For You?

Deep Sea fishing is a very thrilling experience and can be very rewarding for fishing enthusiasts. However, Deep sea fishing is a sport that is not for everyone. Here a checklist to see if Deep sea fishing is for you. 1) Consider if you are prone to motion sickness? if you tend to get motion sickness easily, you may not be cut out for deep sea fishing. The best way to know if you have a good tolerance for motion sickness is to actually go for perhaps a short, inexpensive fishing trip to test your sea legs. If you find yourself throwing up badly, buy some off the shelf motion sickness drug for the trip which will help. Bring along some preserved ginger and sucking them would help to alleviate the ill feeling.

Great Rainbow Trout Technique

Rainbow Trout are a ton of fun to catch. Especially when you employ light line and it's early in the year. I'm not sure if it's because the water is colder is colder early in the year or because the winter fast just has them hungry, but catching rainbow trout early in the season, while using light line and ultra light gear, is as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. Although there are many ways to catch Rainbow Trout, the most effective I've ever found is the one I will explain in this article. The first thing that you need is the flowing water of a river or stream. Preferably one that's small enough to wade fish properly. This simply means that there are places within the river that a person can cross fairly easily if need be.

Fly Fishing Isn t For Everyone

Many people seem to think that if you fish for trout you must be a fly fisherman. This is the case in the west, at least. Anytime someone finds out that I like to fish, the first thing out of there mouth is something to this effect: "Oh, I love fly fishing too." or "where do you like to fly fish?", and I invariably have to bite my tongue and say, "No, no, I don't fly fish". Then they look at me like I'm a sub-human and say, "oh, you're a spin fisherman". I normally say Yep, and we go our separate ways, but in my mind I'm wondering why these elitist fleas flickers have to be such A-holes? The point is that fly fishing (or flea flicking as my mentor would refer to it) isn't for everyone.

What Makes A Good Spinning Reel

Many anglers wonder what the difference is between spinning reels. In all honesty there isn't a ton of difference, and there are many quality spinning reels available for very affordable prices. As a matter of fact, for ultra light to light action fishing (which are the sizes that offer the most "sport" to your fishing experience) it's probably not necessary to spend any more than $50 for a quality spinning reel. Some manufactures that produce quality spinning reels would include: Daiwa, Pflueger, Quantum, and Shimano. My personal favorite id Pflueger, but this is simply my personal preference. The biggest single factor in picking out a good spinning reel is the amount of ball bearings that are in the drive mechanism (which is where the handle is turned).
