Great Smallmouth Bass Technique

One of the most effective techniques for catching Smallmouth Bass is in the flowing water of a river or stream. Smallmouth can be fished for in much the same way that one fishes for trout. As a matter of fact, smallmouth bass in rivers and streams can be great practice for trout fishing. The bottom line is that if you strap on your waders and head out for some Smallmouth action, this technique is for you. Not only is this a great smallmouth technique, it's also as simple as it gets. To use this technique, you're only going to need 4 things, and a river or stream that has smallmouth bass in it! You're going to need small barrel swivels, Split shot sinkers, gang hooks, and live worms.

Rigging The Cane Pole

Cane poles not only are maintaining their popularity, but are actually increasing in use as the years go by. Kids use them, of course, but so do a lot of grownups. Nobody can dispute the effectiveness of a pole for producing good strings of bream, perch, catfish and many other species. Plenty of bass are caught on cane poles too, sometimes by mistake, but often by design. And one particular type of cane pole fishing - called "jigger fishing" or "skittering" - may be the best method of all for consistently producing really big bass. Advances in poles have managed to keep pretty well abreast of advances in rods and reels. You can still buy the old-fashioned cane pole just about everywhere, and in a great variety of lengths and strengths.

Catch More Fish Today

Most anglers are interested in two things. Getting out into nature and/or catching more fish. There is no disputing these two reasons to fish. No matter what type of fishing you engage in, the reason that you fish boils down to one or both of those things. In this article I'm going to give you a few tips that will help you catch more fish. There's nothing I can do about the "being in nature" aspect of fishing, I think God has that handled; all we have to do is partake. If you would like to catch more fish, simply begin using one all of the tips and/or techniques the next time you go fishing. Pay Attention To Your Hands - Many anglers pay no attention to what they've been handling before they bait up.

Ultralight Trout Fishing

One of the most effective ways to catch trout is through the use of ultralight gear and baits. What does Ultralight gear and baits mean? First of all it means gear and baits that may be smaller than you're used to. When you buy a rod and reel, you simply buy ultralight action, instead of light or medium action. Ultra light rods and reels are usually smaller and more sensitive than heavier actions. My personal favorites have always been the Quantum Xtralite series rods and reels because of both their dependability and price, but this is simply my personal preference. When ultralight trout fishing your reel shouldn't be spooled with line any heavier than 6-pound test.

What You Should Know About Sports Fishing

Normally people try to find and catch the region"s most coveted fish during sport fishing event. Retractors And Fishing

If you've never had a retractor before they are something that you need to look in to. A retractor is simply a small device that you attach your lightweight and heavily used fishing gear to. Then, this gear hangs off of your vest, shirt, or pants, waiting to be used. When it's needed, the gear is used, and then simply released, and it "zips" back into place! The convenience that retractors provide is unmatched. If there is something that you use a lot while fishing, such as hemostats, attach them to a retractor and they hang on your vest, waiting to be used. Then after removing a hook from a fishes mouth, simply release the hemostats and zip they're right back where they were to begin with.

Fishing And Live Worms

Many anglers' fish with live worms, but unfortunately don't do it properly. You can go out and buy a pen and pad of paper, but does this make you a writer? No, it doesn't. We all realize that writing takes practice and education, just like anything else. But when it comes to fishing a live worm, many anglers think buying a container of worms and some terminal tackle makes them a worm angler. This can in fact make them a worm angler if that terminal tackle is employed properly. The problem is than many anglers don't employ this terminal tackle properly. When it comes to fishing with a live worm, the last thing that needs to be happening is the "threading" of a worm onto a hook.

Carp Fishing Secret Baits - The Truth Is Out There

Are you one of those fishermen who would love to have your own unique and exceptionally successful bait? Carp bait is such a big issue and staying ahead of the majority with bait is very often the key to success. Here in the UK carp bait making is not as popular as it once was owing to the massive availability of readymade baits. But for many carp fishermen, they want more satisfaction from their catches and more control over exactly what goes into their bait. They recognise many of the great benefits and advantages of using bait that is unique only to them! Also, homemade bait making is a great economical way to compete with those notorious "bait sponsored anglers" enjoying the edge of subsidized commercially produced pellets and boilies.

Bass Fishing Technique 1 - Flippin for Bass

Flippin is a quiet but powerful bass fishing technique. You use it when the weeds are thick (matted), working a reed - Kissimmee grass line or when working docks. The bait is Texas rigged worm/craw imitation and the weight size varies with the type of cover you are flipping to. For matted cover, use 1/2 - 1 1/2 ounce bullet weights. For reeds - Kissimmee grass lines, I usually use from 1/4- 3/8 ounce weights. The line needs to be at least 20 pound test either mono or braided. The presentation starts like a slow overhead cast bringing the rod to a 45 degree angle. Pull approx. 3-4 feet of line off the bait casting reel with one hand while thumbing the spool.

Bass Fishing Technique Lesson 2 - Rattling Crankbaits

My all time favorite rattling crankbait is the Rattletrap. One key I found when buying a Rattletrap is to try them out before you buy it (if the store allows it). This is what I mean: Remove the Rattletrap from the box, hold it close to your ear being careful not to stick yourself, and shake it quickly 3 to 4 times. You will definitely here the rattling sound. I have found that the "traps" that have a higher pitched rattle tend to produce more strikes (just my personal experience). So check out a few before you buy. My personal favorite colors are silver with black back and silver with blue back. I've found that the 1/2 ounce to be the best all around size.
