What Do You Do With Your Worms?
This might sound like a crazy question, but it's something to think about. Do you just buy worms and then carry the worms in the container that you bought them in? This is exactly what I did for many years, that was until I discovered a solution to this problem. Now, you may not think carrying your worms in the container you buy them in is a problem, and if you don't move when you fish, it's not. But if you're anything like me, and move around a lot while fishing, carrying worms in the container they're purchased in is a pain in the butt! Not only is it a pain in the butt, but it's also a big time waster. Having to dig through your vest or the container itself for your worms takes time that could be spent with your line in the water fishing.
Trout Fishing Techniques
At this time of year, many anglers turn their attention to fishing, not only fishing, but trout fishing. Many of these same anglers consider simply tying on a size 4 hook, 'threading' I live worm onto that hook, and casting it out into the water to be trout fishing. While this might be technically true, in reality this is far from fishing. In my favorite movie, A River Runs Through It, the reverend McLain is quoted as saying, "Anyone who does not know how to catch a fish should not be able to disgrace a fish by catching it". He was referring to flea flicking, a practice I abhor, but the sentiment is nonetheless true. Many anglers should not be allowed to disgrace trout by catching them in the aforementioned manner.
Ultra Light Fishing For Smallmouth Bass
If you've never tried ultra light fishing for Smallmouth Bass, you need to put it at the top of your fishing list. When I use the phrase 'ultra light fishing', I'm referring to ultra light gear spooled with 4-6 pound test line and using small hooks and baits. If you've never had the pleasure of catching a 3+ pound Smallmouth on ultra light fishing gear, let me tell you, it's as much fun as you can have with your clothes on! I personally prefer to ultra light fish for Smallmouth Bass in the flowing waters of rivers and streams, so that's what I'm going to focus on in this article. One of the most effective ways to catch Smallmouth Bass in a river and or stream situation is through the use of live bait.

When one thinks of Southern California, many images come to mind. You might think of the perfect weather and white sandy beaches of San Diego. The glamour and congestion of sprawling Los Angeles might be what you think of first. It is not very likely that fly fishing in Southern California will be your first thought. Unless, of course, you are a serious fly fisherman. Fly fishing in Southern California is alive and well. The area offers a wide variety of locations that rank among the best in the country for fishing opportunities.
How to Set Up a Fly Fishing Rod
The first thing most people learn in fly fishing is how to tie flies, but learning to set up your rod should really be the first step. The very first thing you need to learn about setting up and using your fly fishing equipment is that there is always two ways to do everything involved with the sport. Well, maybe not always, sometime there are three or more ways to do it. Every fly fishing book you read will give you a slightly different take on the best way to do everything. This duality runs through the entire sport. There are two types of rods; there are two types of reel; there are two types of line, etc. The key to rod selection and set up is the type of fishing that is going to be done.
