         <title>Preventing Your Attacker s Counter - To Your Counter</title>
         <link>http://article-sport.info/martial-arts/news_2007-09-04-16-32-02-888.html</link>
<description> I am going to start by assuming that your counter has an offensive component to it. Your attacker does &#039;something.&#039; This &#039;something&#039; forces a response from you. And I am assuming that during your response, you are going to attempt to hit, kick back, or somehow strike. And thus the pattern begins. .. You do. Then Your opponent does. Then you do. Then your opponent does. And so on. So, how do you break the pattern, before it gets started? Respond with a counter that prevents your attacker from &quot;countering back.

         <title>Street Fighting - Man to Man</title>
         <link>http://article-sport.info/martial-arts/news_2007-09-04-16-16-02-544.html</link>
<description> If you looked at your local newspaper this morning, I&#039;ll bet you noticed an article about some kind of violence -- likely about an incident right in your area. And certainly, with everything going on these days, there was an article in the first few pages of your paper about violence somewhere in the world. There&#039;s violence in the name of the state, violence in the name of religion, violence to further a criminal&#039;s aims, and just plain random violence. Unless you serve in the armed forces or make it a habit to search out jihadists, you&#039;ll most likely encounter those last two kinds of trouble: crooks and punks.

<title>So You Want To Learn Self-Defense</title>
         <link>http://article-sport.info/martial-arts/news_2007-09-04-16-08-02-110.html</link>
<description> In most martial arts schools today you can take regular lessons and add some self-defense classes. But there is still the problem of the effectiveness of the martial art and the so called self-defense moves being taught. It has been my experience that many of the martial art methods being taught in the United States are not completely functional in today&#039;s world. You have Tae Kwon Do schools, Karate schools, Ju-Jitsu schools and Kung Fu. For the most part these systems are sport oriented in to some degree.

<title>Want To Start Karate? How To Chose The Right Karate For You</title>
         <link>http://article-sport.info/martial-arts/news_2007-08-30-15-20-04-761.html</link>
<description> What to look for and how to prepare yourself, so you can confidently walk into a karate school and not only know what to expect, but know what to do! People have practiced martial arts for thousands of years. There are many reasons why people practice martial arts and the reasons have changed and evolved over the years. In times of war, it was the fighting skills learned from karate that were the main reason to train, in times of peace, health and character development took precedence and now we have the competition side of karate, which is huge!

         <title>Spiral Energy - Spiral Locking</title>
         <link>http://article-sport.info/martial-arts/news_2007-08-30-14-16-03-991.html</link>
<description> In my opinion Spiral Energy is one of the most effective but sometimes least understood of all the kung fu principles. We sometimes hear Kung Fu masters talking about how alive someone&#039;s hand feels or whether there is &#039;essence&#039; in the hands which in part is attributed to the practitioners using Spiral Energetics. Spiral Energy through the arms is used for Distortion, Dissipation and Power Generation. Spiral Locking on the other hand is engaged through the mid and upper body to assist Rooting and Power Generation.

         <title>Gong Lik Forward Energy </title>
         <link>http://article-sport.info/martial-arts/news_2007-08-30-13-04-02-596.html</link>
<description> Gong Lik is generally translated as Forward Energy or Forward Press and is a well known energetic used in many of the Martial Arts but how it is used and executed varies between the different individual Arts. Primarily the main role of Gong Lik is to strengthen the arm positions by generating additional power by cleverly exploiting the principles of force vectors and muscle mechanics. Gong Lik can be expressed in two ways and can be categorised as either Linear or Neutral (Non Linear) with each method having its own specific purpose and advantages.

<title>Where Self Defense For A Woman Scores Higher Than For A Man</title>
         <link>http://article-sport.info/martial-arts/news_2007-08-30-10-36-04-843.html</link>
<description> Self defense for a woman is one of those emotive subjects where you immediately ask yourself &quot;why make a special case just for a woman?&quot; After all, when you learn and apply self-defense moves either as a man or a woman, the same principles apply, including the one that says that you can beat a bigger and stronger attacker if you have better moves. No, the reason for making a special case for women and their self-defense is as much to draw attention to the advantages that women have, as opposed to any disadvantages.
