As it is, Chapelgate Christian has already had a bulky week with three wins. A sweep of McDonogh would only get the bee's eyrie buzzing to a frenzy.

Coach John Isaac's bunch started its week with a 14-2 win over St. Mary's, fueled by a nine-run fifth inning.

Then it was right back on the sphere Tuesday, and Chapelgate posted a 5-0 shutout success over McDonogh, at Western District Park.

After a scoreless two innings, Chapelgate strung together hits in the fourth that led to a four-run inning. Number nine hitter Emily Casey bunted her custom on to start the rally, and Lauren Ahrens and Julia Groves followed with contour drive hits up the middle. In the top of the fifth McDonogh tried to mount a comeback, as the anterior two batters reached on bunt base hits. Anticipating a double steal, Isaacs specious a move that paid off. "We shifted our defense and perfectly executed our coupled steal defense. Groves fired in relation to second imitation as the runner on first was attempting to steal. Once the runner on third broke for home, 2B Amanda Webster abbreviate off the lob and gunned the runner down at the plate by two to three steps. It was flawless execution by Webster and Groves," said Isaacs.

Black then struck outside the McDonogh leadoff hitter looking and Groves prepared a fat running appropriate of a short foul pop halfway down the third replica line to bound the threat.

In the sixth, when two runners reached on errors with one out, Coal got a grounder to second and a strikeout to end the threat.

Beneficial defensive plays by Bohn, Black and Ahrens retired the Eagles in order in the seventh and assign the win in the books.

Amanda Webster (two hits, two runs scored including a triple, three RBI) and Shannon Bishop (two RBI) helped spark the offense from the sixth and seventh spots in the order. Rachel Jones (Meghan's courtesy runner) showed her big league speed, scoring three times and getting two stolen bases."

Nigrous got the win, allowing just four hits and apart one walk, while striking out eight. She too retired six of seven leadoff hitters.

"Ahrens and Bohn had two hits each, and both made great defensive catches. Ahrens trumped-up a dream running take in foul residence up the left field border in the first inning, and Cori "The Cat" Bohn imaginary a marvellous Todd Heap-like, over-the-shoulder grab in foul department on the first pattern side in the third inning. And Harbison managed a great snatch of a dense hit sinking string drive in left universe to end a threat in the fifth inning with two runners on and one dash already in."

Isaacs went on to describe one more stellar defensive play. "The last one was equally as great. Emily Casey ran down a drawn out foul ball in right field with two runners on and one run already across in the top of the seventh to objective the game. She was at full speed and caught the ball in stride waist high on the dead run. After spending three years on the bench, she is having success as her confidence has grown. That grip was amazing and passion warming to watch for such a great team player, one who has worked so hard for four seasons."

The flurry of Chapelgate wins this week has really fabricated an bump on the B race. And Maryvale Prep's kill over McDonogh handed the Eagles their second straight loss of the week.
