Can Swimming be Taught on the Internet - Why Not?
I am NOT certified to teach swimming, but am in teaching business. [I have taught scuba diving and have swum for 55 yrs.] I have all my students do the same thing and I hereby share these with you--in the pool instruction--too. a; the water is not your friend or enemy. It is a chemical entity. NOT more, not less. b; 95% of fresh water has some softness to it permitting FLOATING. I require all my students to get comfortable with the water before swimming. Swimming is not automatic nor a born skill and thus, without basic skills, one can die in 3 feet of water. c; most instructors teach immediately, the different "strokes"; Australian Crawl, breast, side, back, etc.
Swimming Pool Ladders - An Essential Piece of Pool Equipment
Swimming pool ladders can be found on almost any type of swimming pool. Ladders are essential parts of swimming pools, because they are the way in which you enter and exit the pool. There are many different types of ladders, for both above ground and in ground swimming pools. Pool ladders also come in a variety of materials including aluminum, vinyl, plastic, stainless steel, and resin. There aren't many color choices when it comes to swimming pool ladders, but beware that painting them can be dangerous. Some pool ladders come with materials on the steps to prevent skidding when the surface becomes wet. Assembly of a pool ladder shouldn't be too difficult, so long as the instructions are followed.
Have You Considered A Swimming Pool Cover?
Although swimming pools are a fun and exciting way to cool down on those hot summer days, they are not without risks. Far too many children drown each year in swimming pools, and this made more tragic by the fact that it can be so easily prevented by simply using a swimming pool cover. In addition to protecting your children, swimming pool covers have many other uses. One of the main things that a cover will do is keep things such as debris from getting in your pool. A basic plastic pool cover should be enough if all you want to do is keep dirt and leaves out of your swimming pool. Some hard plastic covers are very sturdy and will keep just about any unwanted items out of your pool.
Thanks, But No Thanks!
I"m going to die! She"s trying to drown me! Suddenly, a hand wildly flailing in the air hit Adrienne on the head and pushed her under. With all her might, she tried to make it to the surface to gain control of the situation. God, help me! She"s too strong! I"m going to drown! Adrienne"s dad wanted her to take the final course offered by the local Red Cross. He was always proud of her accomplishments; she couldn"t stand the thought of disappointing him. But she knew he didn"t understand her fears or her limitations. She wasn"t lifeguard material-she was a good swimmer but she lacked the strength and confidence she so admired in her peers. After weeks of training, intense instruction in resuscitation techniques, and strict dietary disciplines, the dreaded day finally arrived-the final test for Red Cross Senior Lifeguard certification.
Chemical Free Pool and Options For Today s Use
With the technology of today, there are many options available when it comes to a chemical free pool. The drying and bleaching of the hair, burning of the eyes, and drying of the skin are just a few of the reasons that you should consider making your pool a chemical free one. When using chemicals in a pool you are not only exposing your family to toxic chemicals but you are also exposing them to the health problems that can be caused by these chemicals as well. It has been stated that the chlorine used in swimming pools can cause asthma and breathing related problems in children. As an adult the chlorine has been linked to an increased risk of coronary heart disease and rectal and bladder cancers.
3 Pool Accessories Everyone Needs for Their Swimming Pool
These are 3 pool accessories that are an important part for every pool. They help to keep it clean and help you to enjoy your pool. Recommended Pool Accessories #1 - Pool Pump Choosing the right size pool pump and filter for your size pool is a very important step when you purchase your pool. The pump circulates the water and the filter system helps keep the harmful, unwanted item s from returning to the pool. If you get a system too small, it won"t keep up with the needs of the pool. The pool pump can also be used to help circulate the chemicals that are used in the pool to help stabilize the water making it safe to swim. Bacteria can build up in the pool when the temperature is warm or just from you swimming in the pool.
Lap Pools - Just What Are They?
Swimming pools have been around for a long time, and you have probably seen many different types of them. One kind of pool, however, has been making a splash lately - the lap pool. I lap pool in unique in that it is designed to be ideal for health and fitness exercises rather than for pure recreation and leisure. Lap pools are much smaller than recreational swimming pools, usually about 5 feet long with a narrower width. This small size, combined with the fact that they can be either above ground or in ground, makes lap pools ideal for those living duplexes or townhouses where space may be very limited. Lap pools work by creating a current in the water for you to swim against.
Solar Heating - A Solution For Winter Swimming Pools
When the summer months pass and the temperature starts to drop you may discover that a dip in the pool leaves your teeth chattering and your body shivering for hours afterwards. If you're like most people, this would not be a very pleasant experience for you. In many areas of the country this has always been a problem for swimming pool owners who find themselves unable to swim in during the winter. How can this be avoided? There have been many heating solutions developed for swimming pools over the years. Currently the most popular are heat and gas pumps. While cheaper to set up, gas pumps are more expensive in the long run given the rising price of gas in recent years.
Choosing a Sanitizing System for Your Pool
In today"s pool market it seems there are more ways to keep a pool clean and inviting than ever before: ionizers, salt water systems, Baquacil and its cousins in addition to chlorine. All sorts of claims are made from no chlorine use at all to lower levels, better water quality and less maintenance. What is a pool owner to do to separate fact from hype? The application of a few common sense rules can help separate fact from fiction in choosing a sanitizing system that will deliver satisfactory results year after year. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. Any sanitizing system that makes incredible or revolutionary claims is probably something to avoid.
